Ingredients apple coffee cake


2 baking apple - sliced
1 cup flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp vanilla
5 1/2 tbsp unsalted butter
1 egg
2/3 whole milk

how to make apple coffee cake


Preheat oven to 375° F.


Whisk vigorously flour, baking powder, and salt


In separate bowl mix 1/4 cup of sugar with cinnamon


With an electric mixer, beat butter with egg, 1/4 cup sugar, and vanilla until homogeneous, may be slightly lumpy


Add flour mixture in 3 additions alternating with milk


Pour half of batter in greased baking dish. Lay cut apple slices on batter.


Sprinkle cinnamon sugar over apples, reserving about 1-2 tbsps to cover top.


Spread remaining batter over apples. Sprinkle remaining cinnamon sugar on top.


Bake for 30 minutes or until golden brown and apples begin to bubble at edges
